IQ Test

IQ (Intelligence Quotient)

Rs. 3500

IQ test checks the IQ, short for intelligence quotient, which is a measure of a person’s complete intellectual ability. In short it checks how well someone can use information and logic to answer questions or make predictions. IQ tests assess this by measuring short- and long-term memory, problem solving skills, lateral thinking, creativity etc. Therefore, it is an effective way to identify reasons for academic, behavioral or social problems.

Every student can learn, no matter how intelligent. But some students struggle in school because of a weakness in one specific area of intelligence. IQ Test helps in identifying the specific areas that a child is struggling with and what can be done about it. With other students who have a normal or high I.Q. and still have academic problems, it points to alternate reasons like behaviour or adjustment problems leading to a resolution of the problem.

Measuring IQ

The IQ test we use is MISIC, a culturally adapted standardised version of WISC, the most popular IQ test. It is a combination of both verbal and non-verbal tests. This gives a fair weightage to academic and non-academic performance. Also it takes into account 11 different factors of intelligence leading to a better idea for remedial work.

Procedure of IQ Test

Before the test the parents and child go through a session to understand the problems the child is facing, other problems, the environment, etc. This is followed by the actual tests and ends with a session where the results and a plan for the future is discussed. This might be followed by future sessions as discussed and decided by the therapist and the parents.

Who is an IQ Test for

This test is useful for children who are consistently facing academic problems. While academics are an issue by themselves, they can lead to further problems like low self-confidence, frustration, anger, school refusal, truancy etc. It helps in finding the reason and more effective options of dealing with the issues at hand. This can be recommended by teachers, tuition teachers or counsellors at school.
